First Auroras of the Season

Hello Everybody,
The 1st auroras of the season were spotted from our Hatcher Pass cabin on August 4, 2010 around 2:30am. The biggest solar flare since 2006 was responsible. We've bottomed out on the solar cycle and now we're bouncing back!

These green curtains came shining through a break in the cloudy weather. A waning crescent moon is the bright spot. It's not completely dark yet but I think the twilight blue makes for a nice back-drop.
