The “Denali Wonder” Experience

I entered Denali National Park & Preserve, professional photography permit in hand, and drove down the gravel road in the drizzling rain. The next day I awoke to clearing skies and couldn’t believe how quickly my luck had changed. Welcome to Denali ~ The Mountain was coming out!

By late afternoon Denali was fully unveiled and I had a vision to climb a ridge I had been eyeing for years. I parked my rig near Wonder Lake, grabbed by tripod, camera & bear spray and had a wonderful hike to a vantage point that blew me away. On June 14, 2017 at 12:22 am–just minutes after official sunset–I preserved this “Land of the Midnight Sun” moment and took in the wonder of it all.

Denali National Park & Preserve is going on its second century. In 1917, this incredible expanse of land was officially protected for future generations… hey, that’s us and beyond! Thank you, ancestors, for the foresight to preserve this wilderness and cheers to even more future generations who get to experience this unique and inspiring environment.
