Aurora Hunter by Todd Salat - Your source for the northern lights

Howdy Folks,

We had an Ahhhhmazing Alaskan aurora season and are excited to release three new photos. Treasure Trove and Seward Candelabra are from a brilliant light show over Seward, AK, while Mysterious Moment is one of the most bizarre phenomenon I’ve ever witnessed.

Shay & I are showcasing our ‘newbies’ at the weekend Anchorage Market all summer long. If you’re traveling around the state, you can find our prints in several wonderful gallery outlets.

It’s too bright to see the auroras right now in Alaska, Land of the Midnight Sun, so aurora enthusiasts in Alaska are on a holding pattern until darkness returns in August. In the meantime, I’ve been enjoying posting my encounters with eagles, bears, moose and the rich diversity of Alaska’s wild things on my Aurora Hunter Facebook Page.

Have a great summer!

Mysterious Moment

New! "Mysterious Moment" Print Ordering ~ A whirlpool of light sails over Donnelly Dome near Delta Junction, Alaska, on April 15, 2023 at 1:54 am AK time. When this spiral came toward me while growing rapidly, I thought, WHAT THE HECK IS THAT?!?! I loved the feeling of wonderment, but mystery solved. It’s rocket emissions from the SpaceX Transporter-7 mission that launched into a polar orbit on the Falcon 9 about three hours earlier in California. Read more here.

3 Movie Bundle

Each of these movies are a great way to experience the awe-inspiring auroras in motion through Todd's extensive time-lapse footage. Together, they provide an in-depth experience into real life aurora hunting and were many years in the making. Both visual journeys are enhanced with science and music that ranges from space-age acoustic sensations to aurora rock! 3-Movie Bundle

Solar Cycle

Here's a graph illustrating when in the solar cycle I've taken some of my favorite shots. The key thing to remember is that auroras occur throughout the cycle from Solar Max to Solar Min. They're just not quite as common during the lows in the cycle. More on the Solar Cycle

Precious Metals

We are absolutely smitten with Metal Prints. The results of having my aurora & scenic shots printed on aluminum have been WOW-With Out Words! The inks are dye-infused onto a specially-coated aluminum sheet and sealed with a gemlike UV coating that is both water and scratch resistant. We have commonly heard people say, "It's like looking through a window"...."Are these backlit?"...."They look so 3D." And the archival quality is out of this world (think century plus). This is a technological breakthrough and the results are in HIGH DEF!
