Ninilchik Spires

The “Ninilchik Spires” Experience

Aurora spires stretch into the celestial skies above the gold onion dome cupolas capping the Russian Orthodox church in Ninilchik, Alaska on January 31, 2025 at 1:15 am. Built in 1901 on a tranquil bluff overlooking the Cook Inlet between Soldotna and Homer, this quaint church is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

I've been chasing this shot for over two and a half decades, so I was very excited to finally be in the right place at the right time to see colorful auroras dancing over this iconic Kenai Peninsula landmark!
